Enroute to the kingdom, the shepherd sisters gathered lambs.
To follow their path, go to the eyes first.
Move across the deep orbs.
Resist stalling on the skin.
Skin stretches,
Undulates,
Convolutes,
Scars.
Though blindness threatens like storms, eyes remain themselves.
Missing pinpricks of sight make for slow going.
Cataracts may develop but can be removed.
Even still seeing is a struggle.
Only the obedient see past the howling.
The shepherd sisters persevered.
They strained to calm the lambs.
They scurried past snarling jaws.
“All is well. All is well,” they whispered to their quivering hearts.
At last they found The Fire.
They stood transfixed in the light of its branding hieroglyphics.
They shed their veils.
They realized they were marked for love from the beginning.
The tallest one forgot her fear of falling.
The wary one stood her ground.
The one closest to The Fire heard music in its Holy tongue.
The one who bled the most saw the red flames as a green river dancing.
“Thy kingdom come. Thy will be done. On earth as it is in heaven.”
