The Helper is in The World

Not all drunkenness results from fermentation. Some altering libations arrive in the sudden thaw of frozen memories trapped in reptilian brains, snatching us with frigid waves into terrifying depths.
A child does not come from its mother like a wave comes from the sea. A child arrives shivering with exposure. The Helper is the first to greet us in our exile. He enters through revealing what is hidden from us and is in us and as The Sustenance we don’t know we need.
Because I’ve lived through what I expected to die from, I’ve learned The Helper has always been with me paving the way. Sometimes I forget. I think I am alone with endless hilly equations, unrelenting storms, and a constant want for a better me. But life reminds me, The Helper is the One who boosts me in my assents and softens my descents.
The Helper comes in the guise of ordinary folks who speak like mirrors, pleading for me to come out of hiding and ask for what I need. The temptation to pretend I am self-sufficient is strong. But I would be wrong! It is The Helper, The Christ, The Three-in-One God, the Alpha and the Omega who continues to guide me safely home.
I am grateful for this photograph taken by David Eckels (Photography Website; His Grace Only Website). We've enjoyed a long history of seeking Jesus and meaning in the lives we've been given to spread the Good News of unmerited love and forgiveness. Though our paths have been different, we've both been relentlessly pursued through heights and valleys of slow transformation. When David sent me this photograph, it's curious beauty engendered a restful reflection and held my attention long enough to respond with the words my soul most needed to hear. I hope you might be inspired to see the mysterious beauty and uplift your soul as well.

Thank you, Tonia, for this beautiful post... and the reminder you bring of our helper.
